Black MacBook Review by ken

This is my first mac but I've used them for years. Compared to my 2Ghz laptop pc it's so slow! Five hours to compile 1000 photos and burn a dvd slide show, iphoto takes forever to load, move or edit photos. Itunes, mail, safari are apps that work well but Office 2004 is very, very slow, but bootcamp and xp is great and fast. Go figure. Airport is great and seamless to use. Going to add more ram and see if that helps.

Based on my experiences so far and that I could have a windows pc for half the price I cannot say I would recommend a mac over a pc.

To the first commenter: The reviewer did not say anything about a desktop. Why are you beating up on him for taking the time to post his review? I love my Macbook, but I am not fanatic about it if others have differing opinions.

I agree with Maria. The new Mac owner is entitled to list his complaints and disappointments without insult or attack. Moreover, his observations may be helpful to others that visit this site. This is after all, a forum for owners -- all owners -- to share their pro and con take on the Macbook. Sorry about that Ken ... please dismiss the rants of intemperate zealots.

Agree with Mark and Maria, but I do think that the Macbook isn\'t bad at all. But, hey, whatever. People can think what they want to think :P.

How much RAM are you running with? It sounds like you\'ve only got a gig in there which would explain the paltry performance. And are you comparing a windows machine with a discrete (separate) graphics card (vs. the integrated video card on the macbook)?

He\'s probably got a MacBook with only 512 MB RAM and a PCBook with 2 GB RAM and a 256 MB GPU. What a fool, not comparing them correctly.
