Black MacBook Review by Maxtcc

Totally enjoy my macbook,surpasses my expectations, having swapped over from pc. 2Meg of ram really makes
all apps run smoother without the lag initially found with 1Meg.
Civ IV runs great at full animation and screen res., even though it always boots with warning saying
it won\'t run on this machine. hear is where the low mem of the video comes into play,
and the message doesn't change even with lowest vid settings.
Often civ IV crashed for the first fifty rounds, but fixed itself and now I have no problems with it.

All around a great machine, really appreciate the built in wifi, and bluetooth,
i highly recommend a bluetooth mouse , love the right click and wheel scroll,
look at the logitech V270 works great and gets rid of obsructive usb rf adapter
for other cordless mouse models, why do that when bluetooth is built in?

Battery life not great if using the machine normally surfing or gaming, 1hr 30min avg., idling and working
documents close to three hours. So it really pays to turn of widgets, background programs wifi and bluetooth
if they aren't needed while you are on battery. even turning off menu bar aps helps. MOST of all TURN DOWN
THE SCREEN BRIGHTNESS to the lowest level always on battery, this sucks the battery dry like a strawberry
milkshake.

The wifi is awesome splurge the $1.95 for the 8011.n software enabler, it doubled my avg download speed, its
available at the apple site.

Get a silacon keyboard skin immediately, this $12.00, keeps dust and crumbs offof the keyboard, and would save
its life from an abrupt rain before you clammed it up,or heaven forbid a spilled coffee (but, we never have
drinks near our electronics now do we?)

Wish I could change the graphics chip, this would give the machine a perfect ten for a laptop.

you mean 2GB and 1GB?

1meg would take about 3 hours to open the simplest of programs..

Yes, I did mean 2 Gigs .

also the enabler is 802.11 n , available on line for $1.49 on apple\'s site.

i have a little problem with my airport connection. it was working well but now says airport card is not installed. waht can i do ?

Anyone have any idea what would be a better choice?
Dell XPS M1330 or a Macbook (Black)
both will be upgraded to 4 gigs rams...they both have their pros and cons but wat is better overall?

I just got a black macbook and I love it as well although I think Dell seems to give you more for the price. I like OS X but it isn\'t heaven. The laptop runs well but sometimes something won\'t open until I try several times like system preferences... I\'m not too worried about it.
