Black MacBook Review by 10-Dee-Q

Hi, First Of All, I'm a Switcher :P
But My Black MacBook actually is not my first apple :P

I was a regular windows user but last time i ever own a mac when i was in uni, it was the iMac , but i only use it for school work like design or etc. I still very much use windows at that time.

Last Year i took a plunge and bought the MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz Core Duo ,Ati Radeon X1600 256MB model. Cause the fact that i may be able to use it for Windows if i don't like OS X. But like most of the majority, i ended up using the OS X more and finally i get rid of boot camp and parrarel on my MBP. The MBP was a nice machine but ihas some flaws , like running too hot, the casing does not align properly, very hard to change the Hard Drive and i get "electrocuted" a lot . And also i don't really like the design and material of MBP, it looks a little bit outdated and no "apple-ness" hehehe. But i don't have a choice cause when I bought my MBP, the MacBook is not out yet.

Last months i sold the MBP cause i thought Leopard wil be launch in January and planning to get the next gen MBP with Leopard Pre-installed. And i thought for the time being, i will be ok to use my Fujitsu Lifebook P7010 LE as my primary laptop.
But I was wrong , after weeks without Mac OS X i feel miserable :( I'm afraid too surf to some web pages that don't pass the windows security check, and my Fujitsu seems really really slow, Of course it's slow, it's Intel Centrino Dothan Ultra Low Voltage that only runs at 1.2Ghz when full load or even 600 Mhz when running on battery, and it must runs the crappy memory hog Windows XP Anti-Virus anti-Spyware anti-adware Firewall some other application that needed in Windows machine to be able to "Surf" safely .

So in the end I decided to get a macbook first then later on get the New MBP when leopard is out, cause i think that i will lose less if i sold MB than the MBP cause the MB is cheaper .
I was deciding to get a refurbished 2.0Ghz CD or the new 1.83Ghz C2D cause both are the cheapest .
But when i Step into the apple shop, I can't stop looking at the gorgeus Black MacBook.
But for me the price is a bit high , i can almost get the lowest spec of MBP !

so i decided to go home and think about it first , not that i can't afford it or anything, but it defeat the purpose of me buying MacBook while waiting for the Next MBP.

But i can't sleep thinking of the beautiful Black MacBook :P

So the very Next day i went to apple shop and get the Black MacBook !
and now i'm typing this review on it :P

ok So for the review:
(Compared to My old MBP)

GOOD POINTS:
-Fit and finish is very good , much better than my old MBP which the top case is misaligned.
-Design is very good , subtle yet stunning especially the "glowing" white apple logo it's so contrast with the matt black casing.
-Speed is good , it's about the same as my old MBP but i don't game though.
-Magnetic latch is cool and more practical than those flimsy clips on the MBP.
-Keyboard is nice to use and INMHO better than MBP.
-Battery life is good compared to MBP.
-Screen is amazing ! Very vibrant in colour, and very very bright. The MBP screen is just look dull when i compared it side by side, but my MBP is a matt screen though.
-The Matt Black finish is very beautifull it looks very stunning with the "glowing" white apple logo on it.
-Fan Noise is minimal
-I don't get any CPU buzzing cause i got one on my old MBP.
-it Runs cool definatelly much cooler than my MBP.

BAD POINTS:
-Weak speakers (sound quality is average but it's lack of volume)
-Casing getting grease from your finger easilly.
-A little bit too heavy to my liking .
-Although the screen colour and brightness is very good, but the viewing angle is bad. i must adjust the angle frequently when watching DVDs and especially with black or dark backgound it's very hard to get that perfect angle for perfect viewing.
-the buttond and trackpad is already looks "old" i reccomend that everybody should put a film protector for the track pad and cick buttons as well as silicone keyboard cover. The silicone keyboard cover though is not as nice as when it's on the white MacBook cause the silicone is semi transclucent and make the font on the black keyboard hard to read in dim condition.
-I miss the backlight keyboard from my MBP
-USB on the left instead of right, well majority of us is right handed right ?
-No Card reader or even express card slot. cause i already bought an express card reader that fit the MBP slot nicely, so i guess i might not be able to use it on my MacBook then .
-Screen is too small in resolutions, i prefer the 1440x900 of the MBP. so that i have more screen real estate.

So far so good, i just use it for about 1 week now, and have no problem yet .

I rate the MacBook Pro CD 7 out of 10
good machine but build quality is bad.

Overall i rate the Black MacBook As 9 out of 10
actually the whit one is also not bad but because i smoke, i'm afraid the casing will easilly turns yellowish easilly.
