BlackMacBook.com Browser Statistics
Posted: October 4th, 2006
I thought this might be interesting to some of you, so here is a screenshot of the browser statistics for the month of September:

Firefox leads the pack with nearly 50%
Virtually 95% of the development and testing for this site was done on Firefox. The reason for that is simple, Firefox has tens of web development plug-ins that other browsers simply can't match. This is one of the many advantages of open source software.
Second in line is Internet Explorer. This is a bit surprising. For starters, most statistics show that 85% of all online users still use IE. Personally I believe this statistic to be false. Drones of unused corporate machines should not count, because they are rarely used for browsing other than a few work-related sites. In fact, many are not used at all, but the statistics falsely count them anyway. And second, why would anyone use Internet Explorer if they have the option not to? I suppose security and stability is not important to some people.
Safari is closing in third, with roughly 20%. Using Google Analytics I was able to track down that most Safari visitors are browsing from older Macs, possibly looking to upgrade. What can I say, if I had an iBook or a PowerBook, I would definitely want a Black MacBook myself.
