MacBook with a Matte Screen

Don't like glossy screens? This mod is for you.

White and Black Macbooks

The Matte vs Glossy argument has existed for a long time amongst laptop owners.
Rarely though, do you come across someone who's willing to take it one step further.
The idea was simple - replace the existing glossy screen with a matte one. Before you start jumping up and down about the warrany - relax - because it was already voided. The owner purchased his MacBook with a broken screen, so replacing it necessary either way.
Needless to say, this wasn't very easy to do. The screen had to be an exact match in order to fit, and because of Apple's design, it wasn't very easy to disassemble.

The modder doesn't know the exact model of the screen he used, but he did point out that you'll need to completely remove the screen from the notebook before you can replace it.

MacBook iAlertU Car Alarm

Of all the stupid things you can do with the MacBook SMS (sudden motion sensor), Randy Green of Greenwood Missouri has created something really useful.
Check out this video to get the idea:

Your car can detect if it's being stolen, why can't your laptop? That's where iAlertU comes into play.
Suppose you're in Starbucks supporting your highly addictive caffeine crave, and you'd like to get another latte but you're worried about leaving your laptop behind.
Turn on iAlertU and if anyone tries to steal your laptop, the software will trigger an audible and visual alarm. Just imagine the frantic reaction you'll see from everyone in the store..

Here's a screenshot of the software:

To "arm" the laptop, simply use the standard infrared remote that comes with all MacBooks.
To download, visit the iAlertU home page.

Red Apple Logo Mod

Red Apple Logo 1
Red Apple Logo 2

Wondering how it was done? Well, all you need is a monkey wrench, a hammer, a few nails, and a pair of WD40 cans.

Just kidding! .. All it takes is a screwdriver and some transparency paper.
The paper goes in between the LCD and the plastic surrounding it, so you'll need to disassemble the screen.

Check out the modder's blog post for instructions on how to do this.

Thanks Aaron!

Nothing a Little Black Paint Can't Solve..

Cables don't match? That's no problem if you've got some black Semi-flat Krylon paint.

Black MacBook, White Keyboard

Story goes the owner had problems with the original keyboard and had to get it replaced.
Unfortunately luckily for him the only spare keyboard they had was a white one.

It looks pretty slick, but part of what makes it so cool is it's rarity.
This Oreo MacBook is probably one of a kind.

MacBook with a Hybrid Keyboard

This owner of the Black and White MacBooks decided it'll be an interesting idea to "merge" the keyboards together, resulting in this rather unpleasant hybrid:

It's not exactly a work of art, but nonetheless it's an interesting idea. Maybe it would've looked better if one half was white and the other black? Anyone else willing to give this a try?

What's cooking good looking?

It turns out that George Foreman grill you bought last year is useless now that you've got a MacBook.
Apparently this guy had his MacBook running so hot he could cook an omelet on it.

Cooking on the MacBook

There's even a video (click to show). Unfortunately this additional feature isn't included with every MacBook. In other words, not all of them get this hot. There's also a firmware update that Apple released a few months ago to help address this issue.

Oh, and if you're wondering where the bacon is..
